Like an old wives' tale the little black dress has been passed down from one generation to the next, being revamped and added to with each passing year. Its silhouette has certainly changed since Coco Chanel made it ubiquitous and 1926 American Vogue marked it as the shape of the future, but the LBD remains a fashion must have.
